Robin Hood is the textbook example of a character born in popular folklore. The earliest narrative ballads featuring him date from the second half of the XV century, with some earlier indirect mentions in other texts as early as the late XIII century, according to some experts.

The story of the heroic outlaw that steals from the rich and gives to the poor has always been universally popular as it symbolizes the struggle against tyranny and how even the humblest members of society may induce social change and justice.

Another characteristic of the stories of Robin Hood is that they are filled with really charismatic characters, from Lady Marian to Little John, and we have wanted to portray one of them for a very long time: Friar Tuck.

This character, which joins Robin Hood’s band after a duel of wits, is a jolly and fun counterbalance to the Merry Men, involved in the fight against tyranny, but more interested in beer and laughs than in fighting.
