Charles I, Duke of Brunswick, was relative to King George III by the marriage of his son to one of the British king’s sisters. Besides that, the participation of Brunswick troops in the war against the American rebels benefited both parties. On one side, the Duchy of Brunswick was in financial trouble and could use the generous British aid. On the other, the British could use a contingent of well-trained professional troops on the campaign.

Led by General Baron von Riedesel, the Brunswickers arrived to Canada on 1776 and spent some time occupied in drills aimed to improve their marksmanship.

They joined General John Burgoyne’s invasion force in the Saratoga campaign and performed their duties excellently, even if the campaign itself failed and ended in a decisive American victory that would condition the outcome of the war itself.

Our miniature portrays an Officer from the Dragoon Regiment Prinz Friedrich.

Note: This is a resin miniature kit that requires assembly and painting.
