The Order of the Solomon’s Temple, more commonly known as the Knights Templars, was one of the most important Christian military orders of the Middle Ages. The order was officially endorsed by Rome in 1129 and quickly became a quite popular organization through all Western Europe, rising in power very quickly. They were fearsome warriors and also skilled businessmen who held a great deal of power in the finances of the Christendom. This feature would also mean their doom in the long run.
Our bust depicts a warrior from the early stages of the Crusades, with several typical elements carried by most of the Christian knights of the era. The surcoat and the flag can be painted in a wide array of schemes to portray other knights of choice.
