Scottish regiments have always played a key role on the British Army, and are perceived in quite a romantic view. From the heroic Gordon Highlanders joining the charge of the Scots Greys at Waterloo to the thin but firm red line of the Sutherland Highlanders at Balaklava, these soldiers have inspired countless generations.

The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders (now the Royal Regiment of Scotland) was a proud heir of that tradition. It was created in 1881 through the Childers Reform, a major re-organization of regiments of the British Army. It was increased to fifteen battalions during WWI and served in Flanders, France and the Mediterranean fronts, winning 65 battle honors and six Victoria Crosses during the conflict.

Our figure depicts an NCO in marching order, as if he was about to leave for the front.

We would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Richard Windrow and Mr. Martin Windrow for their help during the design of this miniature. Thank you for helping us with your expertise on the subject.
