The conflicts known as the “Swedish Crusades” are one of the many wars fought in Northern Europe during diverse moments of the Middle Ages, aimed at expanding the conversion of the remaining pagan people who lived on the fringes of the Christian kingdoms.

After converting to Christianity, some Nordic powers like the Danes, the Norwegians and, especially, the Swedish, embarked on crusades against those neighbours who were still pagan, like the Finns and other Baltic cultures, mostly as a means to expand their influence and power.

The Swedish directed three crusades to Finland over around 150 years, establishing an early colonisation of the area that even reached Western Karelia.

Our miniature is a classic figure from Elite Miniaturas that represents a Swedish Knight in full armour from the early 14th century.

Note: This is a resin miniature kit that requires assembly and painting.
