In 1897, when Irish writer Bram Stoker published his book “Dracula”, little he knew about the revolution that it would mean in time for the horror literary genre and for general popular culture. Inspired in the gothic horror literary tradition and in extensive research on European folklore and vampire stories, this work set the foundations of the modern image of such creatures.

Among the many interesting characters of the book, we find Lucy Westenra, a friend of Mina Harker and one of the victims of the vampire. As soon as Dracula arrives in London, he starts stalking both girls.

Lucy is a lively and beautiful lady, pure and sweet. Because of that, she has three nice suitors, Arthur Holmwood, Quincey Morris, and Dr. John Seward. Lucy accepts the proposal of the first one and soon falls ill, suffering from what looks like severe anemia. The real reason is that Count Dracula is feeding on her, draining slowly her blood. Assisted by Dr. Van Helsing, her fiancé, and friends try desperately to save her but they fail. After the last attack from Dracula, when her transformation into a vampire is completed, she demands a last voluptuous kiss from her fiancé but he is stopped by Van Helsing; that creature is no longer Lucy. Soon after that, she dies from the massive blood loss, but it is only the beginning of a much more dark and more sinister existence.

In our miniature we have tried to portray the qualities of the original character, joined with her new vampire condition. The look for Lucy is partially based on the appearance of the American actress Sharon Tate in the 1967 film “The Fearless Vampire Killers”.
